Pebbles, you can find the Rajasthani at your local Indian store. I found body art quality in 200 gm packs! I am starting to relieve that these online dealers are marking up prices. Not saying their product isn't good, but you can find good quality henna from the people who have done it for ages.

Thanks! I'll have to check them out. I know there's one in my area, but there may be more.

Based on what I read from the Henna for Hair booklet and other online sources, stringiness is great for henna tattoos. Henna artists look for that in their henna mixes.

Sorry you had a bad experience Pebbles! I like the Red Raj much better than the Jamilla and everyone seems to love that brand. You have to go with what's best for your hair b/c we all have unique textures. I have some extra Jamilla that I have to use but for now on I'm just going to stick to what I like. I'm not going to buy what everyone on the boards recommend any longer or I'm going to be out a lot of money.

I have purchased the Nupur henna from the local indian stores and its nice but doesn't rinse out as well. I believe its from Rajasthani too. I think that will be my back up brand because I typically only buy the henna on sale. I refuse to pay the full price for it. I also believe that these online dealers mark up their prices but imo, their henna is a better quality than what I've purchased at the stores.

I've only used three different henna's but they were all Rajasthani. The first I ordered from Amazon. It didn't have a lot of dye but it mixed up very smooth. Then I ordered the organic Rajasthani and red raj from Henna Sooq. The organic mixes similar to the Amazon henna. I also like the color on the organic better. I appears to be darker than the red raj--but they both have good dye content. They all rinsed out easily. I guess it's preference, like you said. I'll have to see what the local Indian grocery store has or can get for me the next time I need henna.

I will order some rajasthani taillight from mehandi today. I get all excited when I order stuff. I plan to henna every two months cuz this hair is too much. But I have retained my three inches from July to January so I want to continue.

I just used this two days ago and I have to say I loved it. I had no problem rinsing it out and love the color the highlights (read grays) turned out. I haven't henna in about two years but I remember really having to work to get the Jamilla rinsed out. I'm going to buy some more in a few weeks and stock up.
