Default 8k Training

So tomorrow is my first 5k race. I am excited and very nervous. The folks in my running group are trying to convince me to do the next training program which is a 10k. I am more interested in an 8k program but my running club doesn't jave one for fall.

Do any of you know of any 8k training programs I could follow? I am looking for something like the Couch25K. I think going from a 5K, 3.1 miles, to a 10K, 6.2 miles is too much too soon. I want to keep up training and plan to do more 5K races but don't want to overdo it.

Any ideas/suggestions?

I don't know of any programs/apps for a 8k. I did a 8k back in May of this year. Leading up the race, I only made it to 5 miles twice so I was nervous. My goal was to just finish the race.

My suggestion would be to just keep trying to increase your distance every week or 2. Since you can already do 3.1 miles, let your next distance be 3.5 miles. Then the next distance 4 miles and so on. until you reach 4.97 (8k).

I want to do a 10k. I'm thinking about signing up.

Thanks Lynnie! Great suggestion. And you can totally do a 10K. You have been rocking it out with your running. Go for it! Good luck. 

Congrats on you 5k. I did my first one Saturday.

I was disappointed I couldn't run the whole thing but I at least finished it ( with injuries).

I can't wait to train harder for the next one
