Challenge Number Six

Post by ChrsLvsBks on 5th February 2010, 5:20 pm

Do you understand the importance of stretching? Stretching helps improve your flexibility. It also feels good. I know there are other benefits. If you know any, please add them.

A good time to stretch is after exercising since your muscles are warm. Try to stretch at least 10 minutes after working out. Even if you do not exercise, you can stretch. I would suggest exercising for as long as you are able. You do not have to join a gym, your own body weight can serve as resistance.

You can find some good stretches by doing a search on the Internet. I like to do stretches based on my workout for the day. When doing cardio, I stretch my lower body. When doing whole body strength training, I do upper body, lower body and core stretches. You can find more about stretching here.

Ummm all the polls let me know just how out of shape I am! I'm going to start stretching when before I go to bed to help me wind down from my day.

Its sad....I never stretch. When I get to the gym, I just hop on the treadmill or elliptical machine. When I'm done, I do the 5 minute cool down...lift weights and go home.

I have been doing great. Saturday, I stretched after doing a couple of videos.

Today, I stretched after all four videos I did today. Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred Day 1 is the best--will do it again tomorrow. I also did the one mile walk by Leslie Sansone, a strength training workout on exercisetv.tv and stretch video on exercisetv.tv.

I stretched a lot yesterday because I actually made it to Zumba! It was a workout but it was fun. I realized just how much rhythm I have lost over the years. Hopefully I will get in shape and gain my rhythm back.

Tia, great! I have to see if one of the fitness centers I am a part has the class. I have heard great things. I was trying to see if I could find a link to an intro class on YT or another site. No luck yet.

I did great today. I stretched before and after the two cardio videos I did on exercisetv.tv. One of them was a Bootcamp Cardio Burn. I was impressed with my ability to keep up. That first step still had me throughout the video but I did not let it stop my momentum. Total calories burned 804

UPDATE
: I have lost 5.35 inches. I lost in all important areas with exception of thighs (+0.5). I did get bigger calves (+0.4) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] . I have very small calves and ankles and big thunder thighs.

After the Zumba workout I have no choice but to stretch. My muscles were so tight. I think I am going to try to incorporate pilates into my schedule

I honestly should be able to say that I stretch daily because I dance almost every day but I'm not counting the stretching I already have to do for classes. I gotta start stretching on my own to increase my flexibility and also incorporate muscle toning stretches, like different yoga moves Smile I'm gonna step my fitness game up in 2010!! It's always been a passion of mine but I never actually worked out as often as I would like to because I love exercise!! I just got get my butt in the gym more often and stay on this thread to keep me motivated Smile
I love these challenges! I wish I had joined CN.com sooner so I could have participated with you guys but I plan on doing all the challenges on my own as well!
