Try doing french braids since you don't need a hairtie.
Also you can't see results at once so try massaging your scalp regularly and you'll definately see results in 60 days.In about 2 months hair grows an inch.

I use to obsess over hair growth everyday but now I just check every 2 months so its more of a change I can see.

Most of the time, the issue is breakage from incorrect manipulation and/or dryness. Which products are you using? What kind of hair do you have (fine, coarse, etc).

Protective styling should definitely help as well as keeping your hair hydrated. I'm not sure if vitamins are necessarily the answer.

I have fine hair, and I'm using Aussie moist conditioner and Aussie 3 minute miracle for deep conditioning. For styling I use dove curl nourishing whipped cream mousse. I seal my ends with almond or jojoba oil. And I also rub Shea butter cantu grow strong strengthening treatment on too. I haven't been doing so well with the protective styling though.

I'm aware. I was just saying what people say to me to describe my hair. Never said Africans didn't have nice hair.

Does your hair feel sufficiently moisturized with these products? If so, protective styling is definitely in order. Especially since your hair is at the point where it can rub against your clothing.

Also, do you use combs/brushes? Try styling your hair while wearing a white t shirt or over a lighter colored desk/sink/etc. If you fin shorter pieces of your hair in the sink/etc then it is definitely breakage.

The most important thing to know is that if your routine isnt working for you, you need to keep switching it up until you find something that does. If it doesn't work on day 1, its not like it will magically work on day 3, you need to re evaluate everything that you put into your hair.

Also, do you drink enough water? I only drink pure water (2-3L per day), rarely juice, and never soda so I keep myself pretty hydrated from the inside out. I don't know if it makes a difference but I notice its something that not many people regularly do.
