hello, ive been natural all my life and im 19 now.
my hair used to be so healthy until I began to straighten it when i was 12 (professionally) and my hairdresser never really said anything about trims etc. my hair isnt terrible but i want it to grow and be healthier. now im into the whole hair care regimen stuff here's a pic of my general hair texture: ![]() you cant really tell from the pic, but the hair in the back is thicker and often drier than the hair in the front. i sleep with a satin bonnet and a silk pillowcase. i do wear my hair in buns very often...but i hardly use gel; mostly conditioners and coconut oil. anyway, how can i prevent breakage of the back part of my hair? i really want it to start growing longer again but the growth is happening at uneven pace because the back is just not cooperating. thank you! It maybe a couple of things causing the breaking. You could need a protein conditioner to strengthen your hair or the breakage could be caused by the stress of wearing a bun often. Do you wear other styles? Perhaps switching up styles can help with it too.

Or depending on what u use to put your hair in the bun, like a hair tie... It could be wayyyyy too tight

Thanks guys! Im definitely trying to stop putting my hair in buns. I spoke to my hair lady and she def said it might be because I put my hair in a bun without ever actually detangling and using a comb/brush to get the hairs in the back to the center of my head. That might be causing the strain. It's weird because i only use silk scrunchies
Ugh, I just need to find some new hairstyles |
