Default My ends

Hi Everyone, my name is Briana I'm 17 I was just wondering if I should get the ends of my hair cut/ trimmed every so often or just let my hair grow out without touching it til it gets to the length that I want? Also my hair is a mixture of 4a/4b and very dry any good suggestions of products I should use… as of now I'm using taliah waajid.

Hey Briana, I'm 15 and I'm also dealing with this problem for the past.. maybe month or two. The day after wash day, My hair would be dry and just breaking as the time went on even though I use moisturizing products. Tomorrow, I'm going to get a trim and a DC and maybe a blowdry and flat iron, and I also want to buy some Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in cause that had worked well for me a few months back. Hopefully I can find a routine that can get my hair back on track.

Also, do you moisturize and seal?

You want to try to manipulate your hair as less as possible so if you wear a protective style, so should probably only require a trim every 3-4 months maybe longer. But it's important to seal and moisturize your hair and protect the ends of you hair otherwise it'll damage your ends only causing a more aggressive cut.
I personally trim my hair 2-3 times a yr.

Sealing and protecting the ends with a oil can help.
You can use Jamaican Black castor oil along with your regimen.

Honestly just clip your ends when needed. Everyone hair is different and might require different amounts of trimming. Just pamper your ends and when they start to feel rough they probably need a trim

Thanks for posting this question. I was wondering the same thing. My hairstylist said every eight weeks but that seemed too frequent. I am hearing a lot of people say twice a year or as needed.

It depends on the condition of your hair.If you are prone to splitting then 8 weeks is about right. But, if your ends are well preserved then you can get away with getting it trimmed less frequently.Just be gentle in how you handle your hair.

Taliah Waajid has excellent products. Her Protective Mist Bodifier is one of my staples.I LOVE Shea Moisture and Nubian Heritage products. What are you currently using from Taliah Waajid?

Think of it like this, hair grows an average of 1/4" to 1/2" a month if you trim the ends every 8 weeks how much of what has grown are you cutting off? If your ends are healthy leave them alone.

Just because your ends are rough does not necessarily mean there is a need to cut. My ends feel VERY roughy until they are properly moisturized. Your ends are the very oldest part of our hair an require more TLC than any other part. Think of the old adage of respecting your elders and apply that to your ends. Baby them.

+1 last wk I was starting to think Linda didn't trim my hair correctly/enough cz ends were still puffy in twist/braids. But in fact I hadn't sealed them correctly or enough to eliminate that problem. I did it correctly Saturday…problem solved.
