Default Scared of these ingredients

Hey girls!
So my aunt brought me a "great creme" for curly hair after knowing I did the bc. She talks wonders about it and their friends too. When she gave me tgr creme I checked the ingredients and they are:

Water, mineral oil, petroleum, protein, keratin, weath, jojoba oil and a few more...of course the second and third scare me! And the protein thing too(I have low porosity hair and protein is not my best friend) but after trying the creme my hair feels soft and has a nice shine. Will these ingredients affect my hair at the long term? My hair is dry after the big chop so I'd like things that can moisture my hair....should I stop using it?

If it works for your hair, then you should use it. Some hair thrives on "unnatural" ingredients while others do not. Try it out. If your hair feels moisturized and it's a great product, use it. If not, then don't continue to use it. I have found not to listen to all these dos and don'ts of ingredients and just do what works for your hair.

If you find, after long term use, that your hair doesn't agree with it (shedding, breakage, etc.), then don't use it anymore.

I don't care for products with mineral oil and petroleum. For me those products don't help my hair.It may work for you.If you're curious try it and if it doesn't work then stop using it.

+1! If you listen to those dos and don'ts and not your hair, you will end up with a knotted, tangled birds nest.

Hey! You didn't even give it until the next day? Lol..You can at least give it another day to truly test the product.

Very true, you cant let the natural police dictate what products to use or not to use...

I anyone who says that you HAVE to avoid all of the old school ingreedients or you hair will be unhealthy is lying. its just not true. Many of us had our longest healthiest hair using old school products. Now there are plenty of people whos hair fares better using all natural products but that does not represent all of us. I use sulfates, cones, grease mineral oil...all with success. actually some of my worst natural hair setbacks have been when I tried to go natural/organic with my products. Some peoples hair (mine) just needs that extra coat of protection that only synthetic products can offer. My hair stays moisturized longer, tangles less, breaks less when I use old school stuff. So don't be afraid to experiment. Everyone's hair is different. And trying petrolatum or mineral oil once or twice WILL NOT do anything permanent to your hair.

I totally agree, I use the items also, except sulfates if I dont use 'cones my relaxed hair will tangle and form knots.
