A big variety of things that'll just range as we she goes…I expect it to be the best out of all the boxes offered out there due to the diversity in products offered. So stay tuned.

Keratin (aka Keratin protein; Keratin polypeptides; Protein)
Keratin is a type of protein found in hair, wool, feathers and horn, fingernails and skin (skin gives a softer type of keratin, with a smaller keratin content). Depending on where the keratin has come from, they are each made of different types of amino acids. Some types of keratin are better at conditioning than others ( My sources don’t list which types of Keratin are better at conditioning than other types, so I’m still looking into this—T). Keratin is known for having great coating abilities. This means they don’t wash out of hair as easily as silk amino acids. Also, they don’t flake on your hair the way collagen proteins can [Hunting (Conditioning) pages 349-352 & 256-257].

Since hair is mostly made of the protein Keratin, many products claim that because they have Keratin in them, they can repair or heal your hair. This is not true. For one thing, Keratin doesn't cling well to hair, even in products that are left in your hair. However, if the Keratin is broken down so it clings better, it's no longer Keratin anyway( it's now chains of amino acids instead). All that being said, at best, all Keratin can do is condition your hair. It can not repair it [Begoun (Hair-Care) pg.83].

Knowledge is power!
I believe we know that keratin protein in its truest form doesn't straighten the hair. However, the "Brazilian keratin protein" that is being marketed by Nuaat and other Brazilian Keratin promoting companies DOES have some of the products containing derivatives of formaldehyde. And because a lot of those hair straightening products are labeled "Keratin Protein" it would be wise not to risk even using products labeled as such because you don't clearly know if what you are using is curl altering of not. That's what the poster was trying to convey. It's not a bad thing to use caution.

Really, CurlBox should be ashamed to even have that Nuaat product in the box when a vast number of customers are naturals. We have to really be careful of what we use in our hair these days because the major manufacturers are losing money because we have learned to take care of our hair with natural products that are good for our hair and these folks will do anything to get us back in a salon chair.

My thing is if u need protein, buy some 100% virgin coconut oil which is nothing but all natural protein. It's a lot safer than some commercial product.

That is so true. I think the nuaat uses "keratin" like a marketing ploy as some companies use Shea butter. Curlbox is advertising a sale on nuaat's keratin 30day treatment. They took out "Brazilian" because people are getting wise to the dangers of their formula. I could be wrong but I think it's the same product.

FORMALDEHYDE IN KERATIN HAIR PRODUCTS
I wasn't trying to be snippy and hope I didn't come off that way. I just would hope that people investigate what they use and not believe irresponsible marketing. I wonder how many people avoid keratin products because of companies like nuaat. I never even heard of them until that stupid box and really don't think I would have tried them.

Keratin doesn't scare me at all. Something that says "Brazilian keratin" does. I research everything before I put it in my hair. I know some people don't care about loosening curls but that sounds too much like a texturizer to me. No thank you.
