Just crossed the 3K increase mark!!! If I ignore this increase and stay on the same saving track from budgeting, I am due to place another 3K into my emergency fund by year's end. Placed money in from one year of extreme saving--that was left untouched and outta sight, outta mind.
Opened my third CD for layering, it will expire the following year, as one will expire within the same month of the challenge.
Decided against purchasing another vehicle.

Okay so I've officially decided not to have a goal. With the purchases that lies ahead of me(furnishing my new apartment), it would be a blessing to save anything. With that being said, my goal is just to get some money in my account period (my current balance is $0.00). However, I thought it'd be clever to go with this amazing idea; provided by KinkyCoil:

Starting March, I plan to double each week leisurely, as I already said it'd be nice to save anything and considering I already owe myself double for this month (wasn't able to save anything at all this month). The second set will go towards my car savings.

I will deposit every 1st of the month for the entire month. This should work for me because it is do-able w/o breaking the bank. Outside of my primary form of income, I also babysit. I plan to put half of what I make each month, into the savings(maybe for the car). Plus, I should not have any problems maintaining any girly lifestyles (mani, pedi, eyebrows, etc); as I never had one to begin with (still trying to fit it comfortably into my budgets). I should be just fine! I wish the best of luck to all my ladies on the thread!

if you have CDs, you would purchase more than one and each one would have different expiration dates. for example: if one is set to expire 1 Mar 2013, the second would expire say mar 2014 at least 1 yr after the first and so on with the CDs. It is done this way so that if you had to cancel one because you need the money, you still have money working for you that will expire at different levels/times.

I'm in. I will like to save $3000 by the end of the year. But my goal is $5000!

I already had a set back from my original plan so I decided to do the 52 week challenge for right now. My original goal was to save 3k. I am going to be receiving some income tax money and some other money so I will definitely be applying that to my goal.

Ok, here is my issue.... this challenge is for the purpose of creating an emergency fund--solely. If you choose to not follow the check ins or have a purpose for saving --then, it is better that you wait and do so when your obligations are not so many. please read the initial post and perhaps some of the other ladies that are in the challenge. Those of us that are seriously wanting to effect change on our financial future are doing so with that mind set. We are to encourage each other during set backs, frustrations, and progress, etc. This challenge is for unplanned circumstances that threaten to derail our regular savings/checking accounts. IF you choose not to have a goal, then what do you strive towards and how serious will your efforts be? If you want to use the 52 week challenge as a model. so be it, but please do not insist that you will not have a goal--because you are defeating the purpose and are working in contrast to the purpose of this challenge. Should you want to continue on with this challenge--do so with the thought in mind that some of us had to seriously look at our money and model a plan based on whatever that reality is.
