I'm a junior! I didn't transition at all, I had dreads for 4 years and then I just cut em all off the summer before freshman year. I wore braids/kinky twist until nov. of sophomore year. It took me so long to get comfortable with the length of my hair, so I would ALWAYS wear it bun. But I always wear it out, and surprisingly most people like it. I've been natural for 2yrs and 3mths - my dreads!

I'm in 2nd year of high school and started transitioning in May and still am. I don't know yet when I will do the big chop. I usually do twist and braid outs and side puff. My mom was totally against it and still is, but luckily her friends with whom I'm close to are supporting me. She doesn't say anything anymore about it, she says it's my own hair so. I can't wait to be fully natural but whenever I take the scissors I just can't, so I will just go step by step

Junior, right here! Upperclassmen! lol. I've been natural my whole life but it was heat trained up until three years ago in eighth grade. I decided to grow out my real texture one night when I came home from running through sprinklers with my friend. I looked in the mirror and my hair was in this lovely shrunken fro; the rest is history.
Just curious are any of you juniors taking AP classes or honors classes? If so, do you find it hard to balance taking care of your hair and managing school too? I feel like I always need to think about what protective style I'm going to wear during the week so I don't have to wake up super early to do my hair.

Your hair is so beautiful! Is it a lot of work maintaining dreads because I was thinking about wearing some when I'm older but I'm not sure if I should...

That's pretty much like me,my hair was heat trained/damaged from 8 grade to 10th....11th is when I really stopped flat ironning it so often.I'm a senior now.

I took APUSH and AP AB calculus which was torture,but the english honors wasn't too bad.My gpa dropped a lot junior yr I don't know if it was me obessing over my hair or too much reading/hw I couldn't keep up with but id say its the hardest in high school.

I already posted but I'm in IB . One of the hardest things ever. Over the summer I developed a hair routine so that it wouldn't take me ALL day to do my hair. I wear it curly & straight...I love both. Any other freshman?

I switch to the straight look once a month but I'm trying to cut it back because my ends are permanently straight and the rest of my hair looks like its been blow dried when I air dry it.

Senior! Class 13' ... Woke up one morning and something said just cut it girl...
