Smile Beauty As Designed CURL POWER ESCAPADE!

Hi everyone,

I just found this section and think it's great! I love what everyone is doing and how everyone is empowering others in our natural hair care journey, so I decided to start one I love being a natural! I've had a 'peculiar' hair journey to say the least but every whip and turn helped me learn what to do and what NOT to do! I'm still learning though. I originally started growing off my natural in 2003 through individual braids and transitioning.

I finally big chopped(that time) in 2006. I loved my hair, though I had no idea of how to properly care and manage it so I become VERY frustrated and discouraged. Furthermore, I did not know anyone else who was natural to help me in this so after a year of wearing my natural hair(nl) I relapsed on the 'creamy crack'....I know...ugg. So I decided to start wearing protective styles, while relaxing, to see if that would help my hair retain its thickness..NOT! It didn't work of course. I had already seen how healthy my hair was when I had previously went natural. So after a couple years of chemical burns, brittle, dry and limp relaxed hair, I decided to go natural AGAIN and this time I decided for good!

In 2009, I started transitioning again through various styles, etc. In April of 2011, I decided to let go of the extensions for a while to wear my hair and experience it and I couldn't have been happier. Since going natural, I've learned so many things from online sites such as, of course Curlynikki, naturallycurly, youtube, nappturality and so many more beautiful ladie! I'm excited and can't wait to see what's in store for my hair and growth!

Exclamation

When I think back, remembering my "permed", creamy crack days....

do I miss it, H@34 NO!

I'm just now learning how fun natural hair and styling can be!

Some might think that relaxed hair is better and more easier to maintain..I disagree!

I feel finally free, to be ME, the real ME, the way God naturally intended for me to be..

Though I've continually had to learn through mistakes and doing the wrong thing, I will persevere, besides, it's far better than being on the "relaxer" Ferris wheel!

Til next time...Toodles!
