So, I had been considering doing this for a while. I kept hesitating though because I wondered if I would have anything “interesting” to update and whether it would be overwhelming keeping up with it. BUT here I am!
I’m a relatively new natural I suppose. I had long thick hair all my life. I have a very distinct memory of my first relaxer and how excited I was that my hair hung and swished lol. When I began to do my own hair in middle school it was still healthy for a while but I started to experience some breakage early in high school and cut some inches off. It never grew to the middle of my back again, but I had a pretty good healthy length for the most part until college where I again started experiencing some breakage in the very back middle of my hair due to constant flat ironing. Sophomore year or so is when I got my first real hair cut in my life. (My mom always liked long hair) I cut it in a pixie style like Rihanna right after her Take a Bow video debuting her new look. I LOVED it. I started experimenting with dye for the 1st time and realized it was the perfect cure to my hair boredom. I got blonde bangs and copper brown hair and a Mohawk and all kinds of different things lol. Eventually, I wasn’t sure what to try next on my hair and was at an awkward in between stage. A close friend of mine who is also on CN BC’ed suddenly in the summer of 2010 and I started to think about how as a kid I always wanted curly hair. 2 of my younger sisters had curly hair and so my mom never relaxed them and I always wished my texture was similar. I literally didn’t even know being natural existed for ppl who were not 3ish textured lol. I started researching, found curlynikki and made the decision to try going natural. I wasn’t really nervous about it since I had done so many other dramatic things with my hair already but after I mentioned it to my boyfriend who gave a particularly negative response, I became even more determined but also more aware that my choice was not necessarily going to be widely accepted. I started transitioning in November of 2010, and did my BC 6.5 months later myself on May 14th in my bathroom after a final exam in African American Studies that left me particularly inspired lol. And yeah, here I am lol. It’s been exactly 10months as of today (which was actually a complete coincidence lol). It was definitely a learning curve in the beginning but I’m now at the point where I’ve found all my staples and mastered general styling so I’m currently just experimenting with new products (and trying to keep PJism under control) and new styles. I have a few hair pics that I will add in the next posts. Anyways that’s my hair story. I’m super nice and easygoing, sometimes to my detriment lol. I love kids and people. I LOVE foreign languages and studying other cultures. I speak Spanish pretty fluently although I’m so shy that I don’t practice nearly as much as I should lol. I’m graduating in December as a Sociology major and then probably going on to Grad school with the ultimate goal of being a therapist for children in the foster care system. I'm really passionate about a lot of things, especially race relations and social inequality, I'm that person you see on TV in the protests against injustices lol. OH, and I LOVE Jesus. Lol Anyways, this is plenty long enough so I’ll end it. Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to the block!
I can't wait to read more about your journey! And your short cuts look smashing - I love the color on you too! I wish I was bold enough to do things like that. I was always afraid of my hair falling out, and I like my hair to look as dark as possible.
