Default A Different Me

I decided to create a new blog. I wanted to reorganize everything and actually put have a blog about the REAL me. My REAL hair story is about identity and my hair damage.

My name is Raynetta, as I have probably mentioned over a million times, but in case you forgot I’m twenty two years old. I’ll be blessed to see twenty three in May. I’m in school full-time majoring in Human Services, concentrated in being a Substance Abuse Counselor. Watching Dr. Drew show made me want to be a counselor. The last time I had a relaxer was August 7, 2011. That day I don’t even know why I brought the relaxer because I was already transitioning. I was about two months post already, but I was ignorant and didn’t know what I was doing. I BC’d on January 1, 2012. I really planned that. New year, new me type of thing. I did it when I came home from church. It was like around 3, 4 in the morning. It felt so good. I had this burst of energy when I did it. I was actually happy. Well happy is an understatement, no one believed that I would cut my hair but I did it . Since I’m in my TWA stage, WnG are what I do. I hope I have enough length by May to get some braids or kinky twist. So I can give my hair a break for the summer.

Well I'm like kind of late for class, I have to do a speak, Ugh Public Speaking Class lol, I'll finish when I get back

Ciao

Dear that nasty drawstring ponytail & relaxers,
Thank you. Thank you for damaging my hair and making me realize that you are not the one for me. Without you, I would have never thought about starting this whole natural hair journey. You tried to trick me into thinking that the bleach damaged my hair, but it wasn’t. it was all you Mr. Relaxer. Oh, and Miss Drawstring Ponytail, thanks for damaging the middle of my hair with your little comb. I loved having missing hair in the middle of my hair…looking like I had a Billy Ray Cyrus mullet. Ugh.
Love, My New Healthy Head Of Hair.

Here's some pictures.
-This is me before the whole journey. Bleached & relaxed, little do you know that i had a mullet. I was able to cover it up with this smile, but I was so pissed and unhappy.
- Couple months later, I put a brown rinse over my hair. I started transitioning. *Don't judge me for smiling extremely too hard lmao*
- I mini chopped in November, over Thanksgiving break. Awesome.
- But the darn spikes in my hair pissed me all the way off. I couldn't take that anymore ugh.

2nd BIG Chop.
That Took Place two weeks later I think, I was letting my cousin experiment in my hair with the clippers. He did good too. But I was pissed when I seen all my color GONE.

So, I Know For Future Pictures, Not To Full Size Them...Yikes.

The whole identity part of my journey. Ehh.

If you read (this), kind of gives a general reason why. In middle & high school, I don't even have any pictures from then, but I hated everything about me. EVERYTHING. Since then, I started to do the whole find myself journey. I realized after several attempts, that I might have something to live for. I have a younger sister, I have a mom & dad. I didn't want to do that and leave them in that way. I thought about what if I be the cause of something terrible that happens to my family? Make them go over the edge. Anyway, I just started my journey in finding myself. I felt I had to. I have learned a lot about me so far. When I finally left Cleveland, I started to feel a little better. I was glad that I left that place. I moved to Kokomo, Indiana and I live with my aunt. She's a girly girl...or woman I should say. I started slowly changing how I dressed. I would wear her clothes, earrings and she would help me shop. Boom. Then next was the hair, in the picture, you see her hair. She been wearing her hair in crazy colors and styles for years, thats her. Me on the other hand is like simple normal styles. She brought me a drawstring (ugh) ponytail and would do my hair. Everything was going great. I was hating myself less and less. It was my decision to go natural, my decision to change my hair color all because when I look in the mirror, I don't see Raynetta from five years ago anymore. I put on Facebook last year that I killed the old Raynetta. In a way, I did. I didnt change overnight, its been almost two years. I'm still learning about who I am, and although I'm not COMPLETELY in love with myself, I do like myself a lot more.

Yesterday, I got some tea tree essential oil and raw Shea butter. I mixed the Shea butter and tea tree oil with some herbal oil on my wet hair then I put a bag on. Made my scalp tingle. Lol. I like that mixture. I am curious to try some other mixtures too . I promised myself not to buy anymore products. Good with that lol

tonight I baggy with herbal oil water, garnier fructis leave in, and my Shea butter mixture. I don't plan to rinse in the morning. Hopefully my bag, bonnet, and headband stays on while I sleep.
