I've been experienced some breakage in my hair recently and now at this current time repairing it back to the health. During the breakage process I was using KCKT (which dried my hair out) and was being lazy and not rewetting and retwisting my hair at night. I did notice alot of hair in the comb in the morning and trying to figure out if that was the problem.

I'm also trying to figure out some information about silk protein. I also use the sheamoisture products and I have been for quite some time now but is it true silk protein is bad for your hair? I never had a problem with this product but just trying to figure out if not doing my hair at night is what broke my hair off so bad or the silk protein product I've been using for two years ...

If the KCKT dried your hair out, then you need to find another leave in conditioner. Not keeping your hair moisturized will guarantee breakage every time.

As for the hair in the comb, was it long strands or little broken strands? Are you combing your hair while it's wet only? If you are combing your hair while it's dry, it will cause breakage as well.

Silk protein is only bad for your hair if your hair doesn't like proteins. If your hair doesn't like proteins, when you use them, your hair will feel like hay and will matt up. If you been using it for 2 years with no problems, then you can continue to use it.

Based on what you stated above, it sounds like you just need to give your hair some TLC to get it back to health. Make sure you keeping it moisturized and twisted up at night.

Thanks Lynnie. TLC is what I planned to give my hair for the rest of the year. I'm really upset it broke off in the back but I know with patience and nourishment it'll grow right back.

I BC'd in March this year and just trimmed again in June. My problem is that my hair in the crown of my head starts to grow out straight once it reaches 2 inches. Is this normal? I trimmed the crown a couple of times but, I'm starting to think that this may be my texture. Any advice would be appreciated.

I BC'd back in March of this year. I also trimmed last month. My problem is that after my hair grows out a couple of inches, it is straight not kinky curly like the roots. It almost looks like it has a relaxer on it. My last relaxer was in November 2011. Any help would be appreciated.

When you got it trimmed, did you straighten it?

Hello Lynnie, I have some questions about two stand twists. I am currently using them as a PS for a protective style challenge. I just BC'd this July and my last relaxer was in December. I've had my twists in for 4 days now and I'm wondering:
1. How do I tell if they need to be moisturized?
2. If I do add additional moisturizer should I untwist, apply and retwist?
3. And should I do the same steps again, water, leave-in, oil, cream?

Here are the products I used, all my first time using them: water, African Pride Olive Miracle Mosture Lotion, Tea tree oil mix (the $1 kind you can find at beauty supply stores) Taliahwaajid Curly Curl Cream. In that order.
