Yeah lesson learned! My texture's not all the way back but I'll just have to learn how to work with these 2b/3a (lol) curls cuz I REFUSE to cut it again! I think I'm just going to do protective styles for a while...

Default Tension Worries

I've been new to the curly thing and like the way fresh curls look. I've tried two strand twists and bantu knots (I like the knots better because of the ringlet size and perfect ends) but I'm starting to think my hair doesn't like to be twisted when wet since it poofs within minutes of taking it down. (perhaps because I use conditioner and water before I twist everyday. Too much?)

Since my hair looks horrible at the end of the day, I've been retwisting without detangling everynight, I'm concerned about my edges becoming weak and possibly coming out. They aren't sore or anything, but I'm wondering if wearing my hair curly is more manipulation and result in breakage since it my nightly routine requires more than it did when I kept it flat ironed?

Default temple balm growth... how to nurture it?

Hi Nikki (and hey y'all),

I'm transitioning... long term and was wondering what's the best way to care form my new growth in the temple area? It's not full yet so I'm not leaving it out. I always use a scarf like headband around my head when I do twist outs. Is that bad? The rest of my hair is growing really thick though! Oh yeeeaaah!

I'm not quite sure what my hair type is yet.... could be a 4c from the description on but I'll judge better when I'm over 6 months (hitting the 5 month mark soon!)

Also I haven't tried any styler yet and I know this isn't necessary but wondering if there's any recommendations? I live in London so some products are not widely available here!!1

Thanks!

xxx

What do you think of this regiment? Doo gro anti thinning mega thick shampoo on occasions, mane and tail deep moisturizer more frequently than shampoo, cantu Shea butter leave in conditioner almost everyday along with a mixture of these oils( tea tree, Africa's best herbal oil, dro gro growth oil) everyday
?

I'm not a hair guru, but you could try adding a lil gel when you twist to help with the puffiness. The humidity and dew counts causes that. If your hair is moisturized there shouldn't be a need to keep reapplying conditioner when you retwist. Unless you notice breakage there isn't a problem retwisting every night either. Also, you can finger detangle when you twist as well.

Heyy curly nikki !!
This is my first time stretching my hair by banding. I was wondering if i should put my eco styler gel in my hair before stretching or after. Im thinking the gel will make my hair shrink back up.
Thanks so much in advance

I have a similar issue to PrismaticSoul... I need a new, fast, low manipulation way to stretch my hair. My hair seems to have VERY little breakage once its dry or like 80% dry...and its also pretty good detangling in the shower... But out straight outta the shower? My hair gets pissed & fragile...even after putting in leave in and sealing. Twisting or braiding my hair for twist/braid outs is becoming too time consuming...and I think the wet manipulation is starting to cause problems. What is a way I could easily stretch my hair after I wash, condition, etc? BTW, I can wait up until I wake up for it to dry, wash day is my only completely free day.

Here's some more info if not needed: I think I have 3c on top, 4a everywhere else. Thin-medium strands. Idk about density. Collarbone length.
