Okay, So I'm doing my first simple scarf. I have the crochet book, I watched youtube, the directions for the scarf is pretty simple. However, I still cannot get my rows to be the same number.
If I chain 15 at first, and then 14 sc for the first row, the second row, i'll get like 12 SC, and I can't figure what I'm doing wrong.

Are you counting your chains 2s, or however many are in the pattern, as single crochet? Sometimes the pattern calls for that and sometimes it doesn't. It can affect your rows

To start your first row for a sc start your first crochet in the 3rd chain stitch. The first of the 2 extra chains you did is considered your first sc while the second is considered the last stitch in for your second row When you finish your first row chain 2 (if you'll still be doing sc) and crochet as normal doing a turning chain at the end of each row. Look up YT videos about doing turning chains. That should help you even out your rows. Last edited by Au Naturale; 12-23-2012 at 12:32 PM. |
