Hey ladies! I have been lurking for about a week. Today I decided to go get some crochet materials so my daughter and I can learn together (she's almost 12). We have been looking at some YouTube videos to get a basic idea of how to start. Not trying to have great expectations too soon but I would like to attempt to make a scarf....is that aiming to high as a newby??

Any suggestions or tips are more than welcome! We are going to continue surf YouTube and then head out to micheals once traffic dies down.

Thanks for any responses!

Thanks Sweetdrk1! I checked out that channel. I picked up a beginners kit that came with a book and different sizes of hooks. I am more of a visual learner so watching the videos are going to be really helpful. My goal for the next few days will be to get comfortable with my hands and with the chain stitch. Here is a pic of what I have been practicing so far...

Okay, i too have been lurking :-)... So Tuesday, i bought a kit....so here's first attempt at crocheting!! I haven't learned to read the patterns yet, so this was free hand...there's no rhyme or reason (made up a few stitches along the way lol).. But I'm learning!!!

Ever so often I put it on my head to
make sure it's adult sized! Lol...at first it looked like a doll hat! So my head is my pattern right now! Lol.. I google stuff along the way! Now after a few more rows, I got to google how to "end it". Lol

Tryna be like sweet dark when I grow up!!! Lol

Crocheting is a wonderful past time and I find it very relaxing. I've been crocheting for about 2 years now.Needle lovers share your work here-imageuploadedbycurlynikki1347733860.497178.jpgNeedle lovers share your work here-imageuploadedbycurlynikki1347733877.418275.jpgNeedle lovers share your work here-imageuploadedbycurlynikki1347733901.780885.jpg

I also purchased mine at micheals it was $12.99 but I had a 50% off coupon and in total with 2 things of yarn I paid under $7.00.
