This EXCITES ME!!! I was just gettin ready to make a thread concerning. I tried sewing at 18...got upset and left that hobby. I am a hobby jumper. I will try something and then leave it when none of my projects turn out right. I tried sewing, jewelry making,scrapbooking--you name it.
Out of nowhere a lady I worked with gave me this vintage 1975 Sears Kenmore sewing machine for free. I tried it and it sewed like a pro. Then someone else gave me another one for dirt cheap. I had two sewing machines and no clue about how to see. I went to the library and checked out every book thy had and watched YouTube until my eyes burned. I have done 3 small projects.I made both of my girls blankets and I just made a grocery bag for shopping.my first project was horrible and my second one was a lot better. My grocery bag was absolutely better than my first project. Knowledge is the key!

I take my time and draw straight lines until I do better. I also changed my foot to a straight stitch foot and that helped a lot! I was sewing with the zigzag foot. I can't wait to make at least 3 maxi dresses for the fall.

Thanks for this thread!

Ohhh by the way--I strongly recommend an old vintage sewing machine versus a newer one. I mean one of the ones made of medal.. They are strong and sturdy and last forever.

I'm excited about this thread as well. Just bought a brother and have no clue what I'm doing. Time to watch some YouTube videos.

Do you know the best sewing machine?? I never really knew. I want to get rid of my newer Singer and get another machine. I know there are Singers, Brothers,Jamone...could a seasoned sewer recommend the best machine??

I wouldn't call myself a "seasoned" sewer. I've only been doing it for about 3 years now. But I LOVE my Brother XL 2600i. It's got a ton of different stitches and it's easy to thread. It's pretty reasonably priced on Amazon.

This is the same sewing machine I just bought. I'm still in the learning phase but I will check out your blog.

Thanks for checking it out!! If you try any of my projects let me know and I'll post your version on my site.

That machine is fairly easy to use. Once you get the hang of it, it'll be your favorite (^_^)
