I used to take an old (clean) sock, cut the toes out, and roll it until it looked like a donut...

That's what I did. I use a pair of socks instead of one so that it would be a little bigger

I love your bun!! I would not have thought to use a sock bun. I will try that. I am so glad you do not mind us trying your styles.

I plan to try my hand at making accessories. I need to break out of my reserve, conservative status.

Ooooh I never thought to use two. I always use dress socks solely cuz theyre black and I don't have any black cotton socks lol. And if my hair just so happens to show a little of the sock it wont matter as much!

Tha last week of twists

Post by tiashauntee on 25th January 2010, 10:52 am

I almost can't believe it's bout over. I seriously thought I wasn't going to make it past week 3. Last night was pulled all my twist back into one big cornrow and I intend to leave it like that for the rest of this week. I am looking forward to this weekend because I will be washing and conditioning but I still have no clue as to how I will style my hair next. If I can 't think of anything or find a phony pony I may be back to bunning.

I think I'm going to try your twists challenge. I get restless with my hair and after a week I'm done but all this versatility is changing my mind. You've inspired me sis!

It's hard but it can be done. You really have to focus on the big picture-growth maintenance and healthy ends.

Yeah I really wanted to focus on that this winter. I think it will be a tad easier because I'll be back in school and won't have all the time in the world to fuss over my hair.

@everyone, I found a pic on my BB of my hair after the oil rinse

Twists...3 more days to go

Post by tiashauntee on 26th January 2010, 12:19 pm

I owe you all some pics. I was doing homework all night and didn't have time to upload them but I will get them up. I like have my twists in one braid because it is so easy to sleep on and I don't have to do anything in the morning except take off my scarf. It's a great get up and go style. Also, I have never been one to sacrifice my sleep for a hairstyle. I love my hair but I NEED my sleep.

So...who is going to help me name my hair. I call it the Chameleon but she needs a name-she feels neglected, LOL.

One more thing, a lot of posts on hair forums/blogs and comments on FOTKI that I have been reading seem to be obsessed with long hair. Why is that? Why are we so obsessed with long hair? Thoughts?

Tia, please don't get me started on the long hair. I believe that is just like the light skin issue. If you have long hair that makes you better somehow. I say if you have healthy hair you are it!!! My grandfather would die if he was alive and saw my hair. In his eyes a woman should NEVER cut her hair...so you know I started getting mine cut at 16..whatever!! I am still beautiful!

AND I knew you could do it with your twist!!! Go Tia, Go Tia!!

LOL @ the dancing man

I agree...I think it is like the light skin issue. However, for me I love big hair and I know the longer the bigger my hair will be. People will rarely see my length because I will continue to wear it curly 99.9% of the time.

I agree with you two. My family freaked when I cut my hair and started wearing it curly. I had to stress that I wanted healthy hair, not long, damaged hair. I hate seeing women with extra scraggly long hair, that needs to be cut because it's damaged. I do think men play a big role in it as well.

LOL @ the dancing man! He looks like doctor Oz when he was learning how to do hip hop dance!
