2010 Book Project
Hi Everyone
I've set a book challenge for myself this year. This is to read 100 books in 2010.
Last year, I read 74 books and I know that I can do better.
Would you like to take part in this challenge?
It'll be fun!

Re: 2010 Book Project
Hi Lionessence~
I'll join you in this challenge. I use to read all the time, but when I went back to school I could only read my school books.
Should we post what we've read when we complete a book? (like each month) I think that would be a good idea....that way we can share what we've read. Also, maybe do a mini book review of we like. (like two thumbs up...or more details if we really like a book)
Thoughts?
Deborah

Re: 2010 Book Project
sure that'll be great.
So far I have read Thank God I'm natural and "Her perfect symmetry" by Audrey Niffenegger. I'm currently reading "The Heretic's daughter" by Kathleen Kent.
Best places to buy books are second hand book shops and charity shops.
The review at the end of each month will be great.

Until then....happy reading!!!

This is a great challenge. 100 books is a lot but I'm willing to make an attempt. I have a question: Can this include audio books? I hope so.
So far this year, I have read:
The Green Life by Victoria Boutenko
Traveling Solo by Eleanor Berman
How come this idiots rich and I'm not (audiobook) by Robert Shemin.
Next book...Open Your Mind to Prosperity by Catherine Ponder

Really love this idea of a 100 book challenge - thanks! Since you live in London you might check out: The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt. Really an amazing read.

Open Your Mind to Prosperity wasn't my next book - LOL. I read Prayers of a Godly Woman by Brighton Books. I was given this book years ago. It's a positive book and a great little read on the bus.

So here is my 2010 Book Project update for January:
I read the following BOOK!!!
The Black Girl Next Door - a memoir ~ by: Jennifer Baszile
I bought this book at a book fair at my job. It was a very good book and what I found interesting is how she shared her struggles with her hair!!! She is now a natural girl!!!!
I plan to bump up my reading as the months progress...so please note I plan to read the following books for February and hope I can add at least 3 more!!
Dreams from My Father ~ by: Barack Obama (I bought this book last summer and just haven't had a chance to read it)
Through it All ~ by: Christine King Farris - saw this at Wal-Mart last night and thought it would be a good read.
Happy reading ladies.......

Re: 2010 Book Project
I'm in!
Right now I'm reading Bill Bryson's Neither Here Nore There. I love travel memoirs.
So far I think the only book I've read completely is Elizabeth Gilbert's Committed And I highy recommend it! (I'm bad about starting a book and not finishing it)
I will update on here, but I also think I will use my neverending book list on www.goodreads.com to keep track. I will add 2010 books to the 2010 bookshelf!
Oh and even better than second hand gift shops - the library! I go and put all of my books I'm looking for on hold on the website and they send them to my local branch. Then they email me when the book is there. AWESOME!

Re: 2010 Book Project
My list so far...
1. The Green Life by Victoria Boutenko
2. Traveling Solo by Eleanor Berman
3. How come this idiots rich and I'm not (audiobook) by Robert Shemin.
4. Prayers of a Godly Woman by Brighton Books.
5. Open Your Mind to Prosperity by Catherine Ponder
6. Time Alive by Alexandra Stoddard
7. Garden Anywhere by Alys Fowler
8. You grow girl by Gayla Trail
I am now reading Wired for Wealth. Next book is a Total Eclipse of the Heart by Zane.
I must admit this isn't looking so good - two months have gone by and I have only read 8 books. I should be up to about 16 books by now (must read about 8 books a month to get to goal of 100 books for the year). If I can't get to where I need to be by 3/31/10, I may bow out in defeat of this challenge and just challenge myself to maybe 50 books this year (which would be a feat in itself).
How is everyone else doing???? Has anyone read about 10 to 16 books this year yet??

Re: 2010 Book Project
Fantastic challenge - I'm all in. I used to read A LOT, but life and career seem to have gotten in the way. You know, if I prorate the schedule, my goal will be 84 books starting now. Ok ladies, I'm taking a deep breath and jumping in!
I'm currently switching between three books:
- The Flexitarian Diet
- Eat Pray Love
- Going Rogue by Sarah Palin
I'd better get that library card!

I just realized that I have read two more books than those the listed above. I keep a list on my laptop so I don't get the same books from the library when I read selections from the same author. Here is the complete list thus far:
1. The Green Life by Victoria Boutenko
2. Traveling Solo by Eleanor Berman
3. Mocha Manual to turning your passion into profit by Kimberly Sears-Allers
4. How come this idiots rich and I'm not (audiobook) by Robert Shemin.
5. The Scavengers Manifesto by Anneli Rufus & Kristan Lawson
6. Prayers of a Godly Woman by Brighton Books.
7. Open Your Mind to Prosperity by Catherine Ponder
8. Time Alive by Alexandra Stoddard
9. Garden Anywhere by Alys Fowler
10. You grow girl by Gayla Trail
Book number 5 was boooorrrrinnngg.

Re: 2010 Book Project
I think I probably already have read 50 books so far this year! I'm such a book addict and usually get most of my books from the local library.
Recent reads that I really enjoyed:
1. Freakonomics
2. Superfreakomics
3. Introduction to evolutionary psychology
Would really like to read Thank God I'm natural.
Kinkynappyhappy, I read "Through it all" last year. It was a nicely written book. Christine King Farris sounds a real lady.
